Mrs. Beth Cross is an 82 years-old lady who lives in an X (the name is not specified) Assisted-Living Home in Oakville. Mrs. Cross is mostly independent, but requires some assistance with bathing, laundry and light cleaning. Her husband passed away seven years ago. They both worked hard throughout their lives and saved money for the retirement. Mrs. Cross can afford to pay for the assisted-living services. She lives in one-bedroom apartment.
Mrs. Cross has a daughter Barbara, who lives in Toronto, and a son John, who lives in Vancouver. Mrs. Cross has six grandchildren. Barbara is 57 years old. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer 10 months ago and had two rounds of chemotherapy. Mrs. Cross was very upset to learn about that. She cried and became very depressed. Mrs. Cross couldn’t see Barbara for four months due to COVID19 pandemic, but two weeks ago ( in October 2020) Barb, and her husband came to visit Mrs. Cross.
Mrs. Cross is diagnosed with COPD (she used to smoke for 40 years), Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Dyslipidemia, Hypertension and CAD. She also suffers from stable angina.
Grace is a PSW working in Assisted-living home for the past five years. Grace takes care of Mrs. Cross, and they developed a very good rapport.
Today Grace came to assist Beth with shower. Grace noticed that Beth is sitting in the living room near the phone table being very upset. When she asked what is going on, Beth replied “I just got a call from Barbara. She was diagnosed with COVID. I can’t believe it. She is a cancer survivor. I am so upset and concerned.”
Suppose Grace works with a PSW student. The student doesn’t know how to do laundry. Find resources/website Grace can use to teach the student principles/rules of doing laundry.
