Data collection plays an important role during research studies and the development of further information. According to Houser(2018), there are different types of data collection methods that can be used for research purposes. These methods include primary data, physiologic, psychometric, survey/questionnaire, interview, focus group, observation, and secondary data(Houser, 2018). Houser(2018) also mentioned that a quantitative study usually includes biological measurements, surveys, questionnaires, and observations. Marengoni et al.,(2021) talked about a study conducted to 165 patients admitted to a hospital in Italy between March and April. This study revealed that 42 patients out of the 165 died. Among those 42, they were known to be of older age. The method used for data collection in this study is through observation. An observational research is a noninvasive method to gather information by studying and observing individual behaviors (Houser, 2018). This type of data collection was appropriate for this study because the researcher had the ability to follow up with the same patients and gathered accurate information about the participants. The variable that this method used to measure was if weakness and multi-morbidity foresee in-hospital mortality in patients with COVID-19 (Marengoni et al., 2021). Lastly, there was no bias detected among this research study. If there was a bias present I think it would have impacted this research study in a negative way by jeopardizing the accuracy of the analytics provided by the researcher.
