The U.S. Department Of Labor, Bureau Of Labor Statistics, hosts an amazing web site called, “The Occupational Outlook Handbook.”
Here’s a link to that site: https://www.bls.gov/ooh/ (Links to an external site.)
Go to the OOH site and do the following:
- On the OOH homepage, in the left column, “Occupation Groups,” select a category OUTSIDE of your current occupation.
- Once on that Occupation Group page, select a specific occupation to explore.
- Look at the information under the “Summary” tab for the specific occupation you selected.
- Submit the following information for this occupation:
- Median pay
- Entry-level education
- Number of jobs
- Job outlook
- Employment change
Once you have submitted this summary information about the occupation, please write your thoughts on whether you think this would be a good occupational area for someone to pursue and explain why, or why not.
