Define the problem related to nursing. What is the incidence, who is the population of clients that the problem effects, how does it affect nursing/healthcare. For example, CAUTI infections affect each aspect of the nursing metaparadigm (person, health, environment, and nursing). CAUTI’s is one of the most frequent device related infections. Use concrete examples from evidence-based literature to support your ideas.
Mention the patient population and define the characteristic of the client. For example, CAUTI’s affect hospitalized clients with indwelling urinary catheters. Risk factors can include clients with critical illness, long-term care facilities, and in the post-operative period. Discuss the population in detail. Throughout the table you will also address the intervention, comparison, and outcome. Be sure to expand on each of these components with detail and support from the literature.
