Case study:
Byron was admitted to the hospital while experiencing a manic episode of bipolar disorder. over the past four he has become increasingly loud and animated, he describes himself as a diplomat assigned to gather information, he carries a number of calling cards in his shirt pocket all of which he states are his contacts. today, the nurse is preparing to administer medication to another client and hears Byron asking very personal sexually oriented question of a female client sitting next to him. as the nurse approaches them, Byron said that the conversation is private, and he is collecting classified information.
Two days later, Byron approaches the nurse and says that he has to leave because he has meeting with other national leaders from around the world this evening, he goes on to say that since he has been elected head of the CIA, he has little time for trivial issues anymore
Question:
1. what action should the nurse take at this point
2. What other symptoms can be anticipated in Byrons behavior
3 How should the nurse respond to this grandiose delusional thinking
4. What is the nurse’s responsibility to the other clients?
