Never Give Up

When I was dismissed from the University of St Francis, I was going to a rough time. I was depressed and I lost the courage to continue the battle. I felt very embarrassed to share this unfortunate news with my family and friends especially my daughter. I kept the secret for 12 months. I was praying. Every time my friends, my family, and my coworkers asked me how I was doing with my studies, my only answer was: “Everything is ok” Then I changed the topic.

 

One day, during a family meeting, I decided to talk about the dismissal and about my decision to take a break from college. It was a big shock for my family. I felt ashamed. But, instead of putting me down, my beautiful family as a whole decided to support and to stand with me until I reach my goal. Also, I contacted my supervisor in my job who allow me to work only on weekends so I can study during the week days.

 

With the support of God, my family, and my job, I am committed to continue to pursue my goal to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to make a difference in the psychiatric mental health community.
