This activity focuses on the understanding of adverse events and their effects on patients and families. A deeper understanding of how adverse events occur leads to the innovation of safer practices. As future registered nurses you will have a leadership role in identifying, preventing, and responding to adverse events, as well as the creation of safer practices in your practice environment through various means.

This activity will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of adverse events and your role in them. You will, through this unit and through clinical practice begin to identify situations that may lead to adverse events and be able to act as leader in preventing them.
