A 72 years old female patient who is 5’3 in height weight 165 lbs is admitted at surgical ward for a low anterior bowel resection with colostomy. Her present admitting diagnosis is adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon as revealed after sigmoidoscopy and biopsy has done. Her past medical history includes typeb2 DM and inflammatory bowel disease associated with some diarrhea and blood in the stool . She has been bed ridden for the last year and presents with stage 3 pressure ulcer on her sacrum. She has not eaten anything for 2 days due to abdominal pain. Patient is hooked with PNNS 1L at 30gtts/min via cephalic vein. Patient arrives in the pre operation unit 30 minutes before the schedule surgery. Vital signs taken Temperature 37.4,PR 87bpm,RR 23cpm ,BP 120/80 mmHg. Initial symptoms of the patient were managed in the ER.
