You are working as an Aged Care Support Worker in a Residential Aged Care Facility called “Home Away from Home” run by “Away from Home Services” (RACS ID: 2145). Eileen S has been a resident in the facility for 6 months after having a stroke that has paralysed her left side. Eileen’s only family is her daughter, Jenny, who has recently returned from another state. Jenny has been visiting every few days over the past six weeks. When you ask Eileen if she is happy to have her daughter nearby, she tells you that she and Jenny have always had a difficult relationship since Jenny’s father passed away when she was a teenager. Eileen says she is anxious about building a relationship with her daughter. Apparently, Jenny has been very stressed recently because she has not been able to find a job and is having difficulty paying the rent. Eileen tells you that for the past week Jenny has suggested that Eileen comes and lives with her and they can use Eileen’s residential care bond to buy a house for them while Jenny provides care for Eileen. Eileen would love to live with her daughter but is not sure that Jenny will be able to provide the care that she needs. A couple of days later, at approximately 10.30am on 23/03/2017 you hear shouting from Eileen’s room. When you go to investigate, Jenny rushes past you. You find Eileen in her room crying. The left side of Eileen’s face is red and swollen. When you ask what happened, Eileen says that Jenny became very angry when Eileen refused to live with her and slapped her across the face.
