17:45hrs on Friday, 23rd August 2022. We attended a Males call in regards of his partner was going to hurt (Cut) herself with a knife. Police and Ambulance have arrived at the PT home.

Initial planned responses:

– Ambulance/Police officer will speak with the Male prior to opening the front door of the house. (Male had a laceration on forehead and some bruises on face).

– Police will first enter to ensure knife is not discharged to attending paramedics.

Partner claimed that he arrived home from work and entered the kitchen and the female randomly started throwing Glass jars at him. Partner was unsure what has triggered this but then PT grab a knife and stated she was going to cut herself. Paramedics treated the laceration on the males forehead by covering with a sterile gauze, and both entered inside.

Before paramedics approach entering the house, we heard the young female screaming and crying at the police officers inside.

Safety issues included:

– The PT was armed with a knife and was location in the kitchen, Glass on the kitchen floor (Broken glass jars), Bruising on face, arms and shoulders and Lacerations on the arm of PT (blood). The PT was annoyed of the presence of the partner entering. (A police officer escorted the male into the Police vehicle for safety and more questioning.) The police officers engaged and calmed the PT down.

Police had verbally spoken to the PT to drop the knife. The PT did comply, and the knife was seized by the police. Police had equipped PPE and conducted a search on the PT and was clear.

Paramedics verbally engaged. Notified the PT we were here to help her. Spoke in a calm and friendly manner. Ask the PT if she could take a seat so we could treat her. The glass on the kitchen floor were safely disposed of. With appropriate PPE the blood from the lacerations was stopped with gauzes.

We briefly listened to what had led the PT to hurting themselves. PT claimed that her Partner of 2 years had been physically abusing her. She claimed that he arrived home and physically started to abuse her. Claims she grab the only thing she could which was a Glass jar and threw it at him. PT then grab the knife as she believes this would be a way out and hurt (Cut) herself.

That indicated the reason she was triggered by the Male partner.

She voluntarily accepted treatment and referred to a Mental Health Ward in the hospital for further assessments as well referred to a physical abuse support group. Police officers took the male back to the station for further questions. She was not restrained due to her not presenting agitated behaviour at the time and was calm in the ambulance. (As well to the lacerations on arm.) We conducted a IMISTAMBO handover, when we arrived at the hospital.

What am I missing that can be included?? Or please help with the response. Behaviour chosen was Suicidal PT
