INPATIENT ADMISSION: This West African patient was admitted for severe Kwashiorkor protein-calorie malnutrition secondary to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She also has noted to have recurrent hematuria. Because of her malnutrition a nasogastric feeding tube was placed. Her hematuria was monitored and it cleared. She was given her medications for her chronic systolic and diastolic congestive heart failure and remained stable. She was discharged home. (Things to think about: Why was she admitted???
