Although the time-consuming process of implementing a telehealth system can deter the feasibility of this project, the long-term positive outcomes outweighs the time-consuming process. Once system is up and running, the long-term positive impact will help improve students health and well being as well as, reduce the amount of days absent as a result of acute illnesses. It would provide more students access to health services and a convenience for parents/caregivers. The existing system of only having a school nurse lacks benefits of having a provider on standby. Although there is a huge benefit to having a school nurse there are also limitations. The limitations include delayed treatment, prolonged sickness, more sick days, and potentially infecting other students.
