A 28-year-old woman was admitted to the intensive care unit unconscious. The last 2 days the patient complained of fatigue, extreme thirst, drowsiness, shortness of breath. Physical examination: patient is very slim, skin is dry, facial flushing, decreased skin turgor, sunken eyes. There are Kussmaul’s breath, smell of acetone in her breath. Respiratory rate is 20 per minute. Heart: rhythm is regular, muffled sounds, BP 90/58 mmHg, heart rate is 118 per minute. Laboratory tests: plasma glucose – 30 mmol/l, creatinine – 180 μmol/l, residual nitrogen – 32 mmol/l. Urine sample (urine was taken by catheter) – density 1040, glucose 250 mmol/l, protein – 25 g/l, acetone ++++, red blood cells, hyaline cylinders detected. 1. Identify Syndromes. 2.
