Javette Drake Week 5 Discussion COLLAPSE Hello Class, I hope you are all having a great day! The best resources for accurate coding are the CPT Coding Manual and the ICD-10-CM Codebook. These books have guidelines and rules within them as far as appropriate coding. Other resources for accurate coding would be the AMA, CPT, and AHIMA websites. These sites review new codes and guidelines and are worth reviewing frequently to stay up to date with the guidelines. One of the main resources I have used during the duration of these courses is using the 3M encoder in the VLAB through AHIMA. The encoder itself and the references listed are extremely helpful to try to code accurately. One of the main tips I remember is for determining if there is a modifier needed for CPT codes. Typically, an LT or RT modifier would be needed if the body part you are coding for comes in a set, such as two arms, two legs, two knees, etc. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!
