I need a discussion post on this: My current boss is primarily a manager. She has some leadership qualities but overall, she is more of a manager. She oversees, directs, and organizes employees and ensures the department runs smoothly. She understands the healthcare business and is great at budgeting and managing FTEs. My boss came from the corporate setting to a more relaxed setting even though it is very structured. She has had to make many adjustments (Nightingale College, 2021). My former boss was a leader. She used a more “hands-on” approach and focused on empowering others and influencing the nursing staff. She had worked in correctional nursing most of her career and had been promoted from LPN, RN, Nurse Manager, Regional Nurse Manager, and then lastly Chief Nurse Executive. My former boss was promoted from within and made many lasting relationships along her career advancement path. Managers and leaders both require similar skills and have a common goal which is to promote and improve nursing practices
