Jukka is a community support worker at First Access. He is supporting 52-year-old Zac, who has been working through challenges with addiction and mental illness. Zac has had some serious health complications and is very unwell. When he received First Access accommodation, he had it recorded on his medical file that his ex-wife Samantha had medical power of attorney if Zac ever reached a point when he could no longer make decisions about his treatment. Dr Andreas is with Zac and Jukka at his First Access accommodation. Jukka has called Zac’s ex-wife, Samantha. When Samantha arrives, Dr Andreas tells her that Zac has a particularly bad case of pneumonia that has not responded to antibiotics. Dr Andreas, Samantha and Jukka all know that Zac had also made it his wish to not pass away in hospital. Samantha makes the difficult decision and asks Doctor Andreas to no longer treat Zac but to make him as comfortable as possible. Dr Andreas agrees that this is what Zac wanted.
