(20 points) The basic process: The patient shows up at the hospital and reports to the admissions area for a scheduled operative process. The admission staff makes sure the patient has gone through a pre-operative visit with the scheduling staff who a few days earlier went through all the pre-op information with the patient and made sure they were aware of any preop procedures or limitations before surgery. If they have not had the discussion with the scheduling staff, they will be referred to the scheduling staff who will run through the questions and determine if the patient will be able to have the procedure on this day. If they did not, they will have to re-schedule the operative procedure and the nursing unit and OR will be notified. If they have gone through the preoperative scheduling, the admission staff will run through the registration questions. They will verify if the patient is 18 years of age or older.
