Compliment, comment, connection, of this text? The maternity mortality rate changed significantly over time in a positive way for Sri Lanka and Finland. With the report of 3 deaths per 100,000 thousand births in Finland, this is an impressively low number of maternal deaths. According to the article, ‘An Overview of Finnish Maternal Health Care’ one of the strategies Finland uses are a baby box” which started off for low-income mothers. It has things like toys, picture books, and baby bottles to promote early engagement with prenatal care. This allowed early prevention when there are potential complications as well. Another good strategy Finland uses is more of a community-based care. This allows for women who are low-income to receive adequate care as well. In Sri Lanka, there is a huge access to maternal health care. Sri Lanka provides free services to the whole population, even in places like rural areas and small cities. The United States on the other hand does the opposite and does not focus on community care for pregnant women but use medical centers and clinics which is not effective for a good outcome. Comparing the U.S to Finland, the U.S has 16 deaths per 100,000
