Ethical Considerations for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Conducting Nursing Research
Advanced registered nurses must consider several ethical concerns while conducting nursing research. The main problem is getting informed consent and voluntary participation, for vulnerable groups, such as children and patients with impaired decision-making capacity. The nurses must obtain full disclosure of their research’s risks and benefits and make sure that participants understand the provided information before ensuring informed consent (Grace, 2022). However, confidentiality and privacy of participants should be preserved as well, and therefore secure storage and de-identification of records are obligatory.
Besides, nurses need to keep in mind the trade-off between risk and benefits while designing a study. Such research must be conducted in a way to avoid unnecessary harm to the participants and hence precautions have to be taken. If risks do exist, anticipated benefits should justify them. The key ethical issues major to advanced practice registered nurses include topics like informed consent, beneficence (non-compliance), respect for anonymity and confidentiality, advocacy for patients, protocol implementation, and advancement of science (Kapu et al., 2022). During research, nurses should be familiar with key ethical principles, that are worrisome, chances of compromising integrity and keeping away from pretending to deceive patients or falsify records. These ethical issues are to be taken into account while defining the nurse-participants relationship, as well as the nurses’ role in research.
Funding sources or personal motives must be disclosed to participants. Since nurses are patient advocates, they must make sure that the welfare of the patient is more primary than professional or financial needs (Grace, 2022). The maintenance of high ethical standards in research is critical and essential to generate effective, equitable, and rightful health findings in reconciliation. Advanced nurses need to be proactive in their decisions by doing ethical research, which promotes justice.

Hi, Delgo. Â I believe that the funding sources for a research study and/or motivations have gotten more difficult to hide now that there is so much information on everyone on the internet. It wouldn’t be worth hiding this.
