Â
Introduction:
My name is Francine Ongbalindi, and I am eager to embark on the next phase of my nursing career by pursuing the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program at Western Governor’s University (WGU). As I reflect on my educational and professional journey thus far, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences that have shaped my passion for nursing and my commitment to making a difference in healthcare delivery.
Â
Educational Background:
My educational journey began at St. Michael School of Allied Health in Washington, DC, where I earned my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree in November 2015. Building on this foundation, I pursued my associate degree in nursing (RN) at Carroll Community College in Westminster, MD, I graduated in May 2021. And in January 2024, my bachelor’s degree in nursing at WGU. This educational journey has equipped me with the essential knowledge and skills to provide quality patient care and as an advocate for health promotion and disease prevention (Carroll & Jones, 2019).
Â
Clinical Experience:
Throughout my clinical experiences, I have had the privilege of working under the guidance of dedicated instructors and healthcare professionals, honing my clinical skills and developing a keen understanding of patient-centered care. From performing urinary catheter insertions to participating in emergency code situations, I have embraced every opportunity to expand my clinical competencies and enhance patient outcomes. Additionally, my exposure to diverse procedures such as coloscopy and endoscopy has broadened my perspective on holistic patient care.
Â
Relevant Work Experience:
My professional trajectory has been marked by a steadfast dedication to delivering empathetic and all-encompassing care to individuals at all stages of their lives. As a registered nurse at Springfield Hospital Center located in Sykesville, MD, I was given the significant responsibility of administering medications, conducting educational sessions, and safeguarding the health and welfare of patients within the facility. Prior to this role, I served as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the same institution, where I was tasked with providing basic medical and nursing care, monitoring patient health, and assisting registered nurses and doctors with procedures and exams. Even before becoming an LPN, I held the position of a Certified Nursing Assistant/Certified Medication Technician at LarMax Group Homes in Bethesda, MD. In this capacity, I offered tailored care and assistance to residents with a range of health care requirements.
Â

I plan to incorporate holistic care methods, utilize technology for telehealth provisions, and work in conjunction with interdisciplinary teams to tackle widespread health inequalities and enhance healthcare accessibility for marginalized groups. By educating patients, implementing early interventions, and managing chronic conditions proactively, I aim to cultivate a health and well-being culture that surpasses conventional healthcare limits.
