A 28-year-old mother comes to see the PMHNP because she is bothered by disturbing and recurrent thoughts of harming her 9-month-old infant. This is her first child. She reports that these thought are so distressing that she has removed all sharp object from the kitchen so that she cannot stab her baby with a knife. She further reports that she frequently checks the kitchen to make sure there are no sharp objects she has forgotten to remove.
