Henry is a 45y male being seen in the Emergency Department for acute pain that he rates 10/10. When asked where his pain is, he is able to point to his left flank. CT results show a 4mm kidney stone. Given the size of the stone he will be able to pass the stone and can go home on pain medication. He was given Tylenol and Toradol in the ED with no relief, so tramadol can be given for acute pain. If he takes 50mg of tramadol every 6 hours how many pills should he get in his prescription using opiate guidelines for the maximum amount of days for adults. Tramadol comes in 50mg/pill.
