A NP is seeing a family for the first time. The NP knows the child will need immunizations at the next scheduled visit. There is a note in the chart stating the child has had redness and swelling at the immunization site in the past. The NP advises: QID: 4613134Mark For Review Make sure to give acetaminophen 4 hours before the next visit. The child is likely allergic to preservatives in the vaccines and should not receive any more. There is no treatment for vaccine reactions. Acetaminophen should not be given in advance but may be given 4 hours after if the child is very uncomfortable.
