Care plan for Mary is an 18-year-old, single, gravida 1 para 0 woman at 39 weeks gestation. She has a limited support system that only includes her mother and sister. The father of the baby is not involved as he is incarcerated. They are still a couple, and she plans to take the baby to see him during jail visiting hours. She also plans on moving in with him once he is released. She is not yet in labor but is eager to see her baby. She does have frequent anxiety related to her situation and the unknown of labor. In addition, due to gestational diabetes, there is worry that complications may arise such as large baby (at risk for a shoulder dystocia or a c/section). Mary is planning a medication free labor and delivery. She wants to construct a birth plan and asks for your help.
