Q1.14: Kyle is a 16 year old non-binary person that has been admitted to a Adolescent mental health ward due to acute suicidality secondary to depression, anxiety and PTSD. They are currently under a Treatment Order (TO) and present acutely distressed with an imminent risk of significant harm to themselves due to head banging. Kyle has been offered a variety of non-pharmacological strategies as well as their charted PRN medication which have been rejected.Â

Under what circumstances could an authorised psychiatrist make a treatment decision to provide medication for Kyle when they will not consent to treatment?
