Nurses are primary at bedside with the patient. We are the ones that provider patient care and spend the most time with the patient. As nurses we do assessments and gather all the information needed and relay that information over to the provider. “Nurses should be full partners, with physicians and other health care professionals, in redesigning heath care in the United States” (Wood,2021). This is a teamwork for patient safety and care as healthcare uses interdisciplinary teams in a care plan on how to treat the patient. Currently working in the dialysis unit in a hospital we are required to take call nightly with a provider. During the night the provider relies heavily on that nursing staff to ensure they are receiving the appropriate information to place the correct order regarding emergency orders or orders for the next morning so the patient can have safe and accurate dialysis treatment. Communication is a key part to this process.
