An enrolled nursing student is undertaking a Clinical Placement in a Residential Aged Care Facility. The Registered Nurse (RN) on duty knows the nursing student is about to graduate as an Enrolled Nurse (EN). The RN is extremely busy and asks the student if she has performed a female catheterisation as part of her course. The student tells the RN that she has performed it once in a simulated situation (on a mannequin). The RN asks the student if she could help her out by performing a catheterisation unsupervised on one of the female residents.
